About Me
Born in Colorado and oldest of 5 surviving children, I grew up in a very small town in New Mexico. After completing my Master’s Degree in Communication Studies from NMSU, I decided I was ready for a change and took a leap of faith. I moved to Sacramento in 2002 and Livermore in 2016 and have enjoyed making California my home.
Where I developed my skills
I began my training at the Healing Arts Institute in Citrus Heights, CA to become a Massage Therapist. At the same time I began studying CranioSacral therapy from the Upledger Institute. Since starting the journey, I haven’t looked back and I took another leap of faith and left my corporate full time job to pursue my passion. I continue to further my education in massage and CranioSacral therapy as well as many other modalities. I believe that furthering my education is a gift, not only for me, but also for my current and future clients. I am committed to learning and growing as a healing arts practitioner.
My Journey
It is through my own healing journey that I came to be a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in CranioSacral Therapy. I lived my life in chronic pain from a very young age. My family and the medical community struggled to understand what was going on and what I needed. This led to an ever expanding list of diagnoses throughout my life
including: Allergies, Asthma, Fibromyalgia, GERD, LERD, Migraines, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Tarlov Cyst Disease, and many more. All were an attempt to explain my symptoms and each came with a list of medication and “To Do & Not Do” lists. However, none of the medications or suggestions “fixed” my symptoms. As soon as one diagnosis was resolved or I learned to live with it, new symptoms would begin. I would be back in the system attempting to find answers and relief resulting in another diagnosis, more medications, and more lists.
It wasn’t until I decided to put everything I had into my own health that things began to change for me. I made real, substantial changes in my life. I developed a strong core network of healthcare and healing arts practitioners to help me in my journey. I shifted my internal focus from symptom relief to healing. I worked with my medical doctor and my own intuition to find complementary options and alternatives. Most of all, I started listening to my body and my own inner wisdom. If it didn’t feel right, I didn’t do it. I learned to trust myself and the messages my body was giving me. It was with the help of amazing people that I no longer saw pain as something to numb or mute, but as a signal from my body. CranioSacral therapy was the key that opened the door to healing for me. It was not the only effective tool, but it was a huge part of my journey that worked in collaboration with all other modalities.
As soon as healing shifts began, I knew deep inside that it was my turn to learn and share. That is when I began studying CranioSacral therapy and other complimentary modalities. My personal healing journey gives me a unique perspective as a healing arts practitioner.
